Building a Home Business with a Network Marketing Program
(c) 2004 Linda J Bruton
Joining a good, high-quality network marketing program can
provide the 'Average Joe' with the best chance of making an
above-average income online.
But there are literally thousands of good network marketing
companies, with thousands of different products. How in the
world do you separate the good from the bad?
Most people choose a network marketing program for all the
wrong reasons.
They go for glitzy, one-of-a-kind sizzle products, the
latest Australian reverse binary super-cycler compensation
plan, guaranteed to make everyone zillions in just a few
weeks, and hyped ads that promise massive upline spillover,
little work and lots of pay, and "can't lose" pre-launch
opportunities.
"______ Goes MLM" (you fill in the blank).
If you've been in this business awhile, you know what I'm
talking about. You may even have been involved in some of
these programs. I've seen hundreds of them come and go over
the years. And I've seen a lot of would-be network marketers
jump in and out of them. It's part of the reason for the
"revolving- door syndrome" that has plagued the network
marketing industry for so long.
Unless you choose an opportunity that has the highest
probability of generating long-term success for YOU, you
will continue to be trapped in the revolving door! Or you'll
quit altogether, convincing yourself that MLM is a scam that
just doesn't work!
Choosing the right network marketing opportunity can save
you months, and even years, of frustration. It will save you
hundreds of dollars in startup costs. The right choice will
insure you a quick start, good training, access to the tools
you need to succeed, and an easy-to-duplicate system that
will get you in profit as quickly as possible.
So how do you choose a good program? I've already written a
very comprehensive 3-article series on this very issue on my
MLM Millionaire website:
http://www.mlmmillionaire.com/mlm-opportunity-1.htm
http://www.mlmmillionaire.com/mlm-opportunity-2.htm
http://www.mlmmillionaire.com/mlm-opportunity-3.htm
Rather then repeat all that information here, I'll just
summarize the main points. But if you are new to picking and
choosing among all the programs, I highly recommend that you
read the whole article.
The first thing you need to realize is that the perfect
opportunity for me may NOT be the perfect opportunity for
YOU.
Second, just because someone you think of as a 'heavy-
hitter' is promoting an opportunity, does NOT mean that
opportunity is going to work for YOU.
It does you no good to join a program that has products you
hate and don't want to use. You won't feel good telling
anyone about them. You won't be able to write convincing
sales materials for those products. And you won't be excited
about your business.
So even if Frank Heavyhitter is making $8 kazillion bucks a
month with that program, you shouldn't touch it with a 10-
foot pole.
You should also avoid programs that have only 1 fad product
that no one is going to want in a year or two. Their "hot"
product today is going to be a dud later, and your income
will drop drastically because of it.
You should avoid programs that force you to do something
that you hate. In other words, if Program X pays you the
most money for retailing products door to door, and you get
sick of the thought of face-to-face selling - avoid it like
the plague. It wouldn't matter if they paid you 90%
commissions, because you're not going to do what it takes to
make money.
Avoid programs that don't pay you a reasonable monthly
amount per person that you sponsor or overrides on the
people that they sponsor. You can't earn a lot of residual
income if the company is stingy about payouts. You should be
earning at least $8-$10 per month (and hopefully more) on
your personally-enrolled members.
And most important of all - avoid programs that don't have a
real product. Stay away from thinly disguised chain letters,
programs that have you pay everyone on a list for cheap
reports, Pay Pal randomizers, etc. These are NOT legitimate
network marketing programs. They get closed down as quickly
as they spring up!
Here are the 4 areas you should examine when looking at
network marketing programs:
1. An Exceptional Upline Support Team
2. A Compensation Plan that Rewards Part-timers, but also
Offers Generous Leadership Bonuses for Heavy Hitters.
3. Good, useful, fairly priced products or services that
members will happily buy month after month.
4. An MLM company with a good track record, low debt, good
management, a good product development strategy, and a good
customer support organization in place.
Be sure to read the articles on my website for more
information about each of these areas.
I know that many of you don't want to do the work it takes
to find a good program. You would rather have someone else
tell you what the "best" program is.
But you need to realize, folks, that there just is no such
animal! What works well for me may not work well for you.
Spending the time it takes to find the right program for you
can save you the frustration of jumping from program to
program and wasting hundreds of dollars because you didn't
do your homework.
And second, just finding a good program is only half the
battle. The other half is MAKING MONEY FROM IT! It doesn't
matter how good the program if you don't know how to promote
it. Fortunately, this course is going to show you in future
lessons the 6 best ways to promote products, affiliate
programs, and network marketing programs online.
In the next issue, I'll suggest a couple of network
marketing programs that are especially good for newcomers.
But remember - these programs may or may not be YOUR perfect
program. Only YOU can decide that.
